Wanted to add my own experience to the growing list on this company. When they called me last year, I was on the job market (having recently gone through job elimination) and had my resume on Workopolis. I had already been interviewed twice by other companies and had a third interview with another company that week. When they originally called, I had a bad connection and thought I heard "RB Group". As I had had a resume sent through to a hiring manager at Royal Bank, I initially thought it was them. When I arrived at the office, however, I immediately realized it was a different company and my scam radar started going off. Perhaps it was the receptionist behind glass. The whole office smelled fake to me. What sealed it was the man who interviewed me. There was definitely something of the used car salesman about him, and he had set about trying to scare me about the job market--about how hard it was for people "with my credentials" to find jobs that pay what I'm worth, etc. He was very pushy about what I had been making and told me that wasn't enough for someone with my education and skills. He also made it seem as though it might be difficult for someone who had worked mostly for American companies to find a Canadian job, and that finding a job would be very difficult "on my own." He made much about how many contacts his company had, etc. He then handed me some sort of career assessment thing to start filling out. Now, I had access to excellent outplacement services at my old job, and so am familiar with these sorts of tools and had already gleaned what I needed to know from them. I also have a professional certification that's very much in demand and a fairly clear career path--so I didn't really need another assessment of my strengths and "challenges." At that point, I told him I'd go ahead and try the job market on my own and left. I think he realized I hadn't bought his spiel because he sort of just let me go. Incidentally, one of the jobs I had already interviewed for subsequently made me an offer. So much for this "tricky job market" and "not being able to do it on my own". Susan Ajax, Ontario Canada
